Spotify Car Thing

Spotify ended Car Thing service in December 2024 and told owners to throw them away. Riprod’s DeskThing turns it into a desk controller with community apps for music control, weather, Discord call status, clocks and remappable buttons.
- ai
- No AI involvement documented. Builds on the Car Thing community's superbird-tool image and custom web app.
- caveats
- The Car Thing stays connected to a computer running the DeskThing server: a desk accessory, not standalone in-car use. Install from deskthing.app, not from the repo's main branch.
- evidence
- Public repo + coverage.
